Amanda Juggins BSc Hons, HCPC, MChS
I am Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered. HCPC is the regulatory body for Health Professionals including Podiatrists, meaning I am legally registered to practice as a podiatrist in the UK. I am also a member of The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists and have full insurance.
I have 20 years’ experience; I qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry in 1999 at Salford University. For 15 of those years I worked within the NHS as part of Salford Royal Foundation Trust in Manchester. I worked across the community clinics and in the Acute, and over 15 years progressed professionally to an Advanced Podiatrist at Band 7 level.
Working in the NHS is where I built invaluable knowledge and experience of the high-risk foot; working with patients who have diabetes, peripheral arterial disease and other conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, which may put them at risk of having foot complications. Dealing with ulcerations, lower limb amputations and gangrene is unfortunately a far too common problem that we deal with in our NHS clinics.
Screening patients and education is a largely important part of my job. Early detection of problems and often onward referral is key in the fight to preventing lower limb complications and amputations.
I also enjoy teaching Podiatry and completed a Post Graduate Certificate as an Educator in 2005. In the latter 6 years of working with the NHS, I worked closely with Salford University and provided third year Students with placements alongside myself, teaching them the practical side of Nail Surgery at various clinic sites across Salford. This is a procedure where part or all the nail is removed under local anaesthetic for persistent / infected toenails. As well as teaching I also enjoy Biomechanics which is looking at the structure, alignment, strengths, weaknesses and overall function of the foot and lower limb.
I offer all routine Podiatry treatments inc; nail cutting, nail drilling for thick or fungal nails, hard skin removal, corns, verrucae, dry cracked feet, athletes foot and nail surgery. I can perform foot health checks to assess the vascular and neurological status of your feet; this is for anyone who may be concerned about the health of their feet or for patients with Diabetes for their annual foot health assessment check. If you are experiencing foot or lower limb pain a biomechanical examination may help to highlight any functional / structural problems and insoles may be prescribed along with a stretching regime.

“Amanda is amazing and managed to sort my toe nail that had been troubling me for quite some time…I will definitely be returning!” Jane Rogers, Stoke On Trent
“Amanda is very professional, friendly and caring. I felt she really listened to my concerns about my circulation. After my assessment with her, she referred me on to a vascular specialist through my GP, and finally I am getting treatment at the hospital. I would not hesitate in recommending her.” Maureen Brookes, Barlaston
“Having Diabetes I have to be careful with my feet. Sometimes I struggle to see my NHS podiatrist and Amanda has always squeezed me in last minute if I have any problems or concerns. I always feel reassured after my visits with her, and I always leave walking on air!” Paul Thompson, Longnor
“ I have visited a lot of different Chiropodists over the years. Since meeting Amanda 4 years ago, I would never get treatment any where else. She really provides an excellent service and my feet have never been in better condition.” Elsie Dixon, Macclesfield
